Emma-Jean Thackray is one of the most prominent artists on the British jazz scene. A graduate in jazz orchestral composition from Trinity College, where she worked alongside Moses Boyd and Nubya Garcia, Emma-Jean has always considered herself an outsider. In parallel to her studies, she played all the instruments herself to create her own psychedelic universe invoking Sun Ra, Alice Coltrane, Madlib or the Beach Boys. Her critically acclaimed latest album Yellow is a fascinating mix of cosmic groove and complex orchestrations of keyboards, brass, strings and choirs.
