Somali-Ethiopian artist and performer Bananasoverdose redefines femininity, funk, and jazz through a daring reinvention of Somali music. Splitting her time between East Africa and the UK, she first explored EDM and hip-hop before carving out her signature sound: a vibrant mix of nostalgic Somali soul, vintage East African funk, and futuristic electronic textures. With her avant-garde EP Harambae—produced in part with Swiss beatmaker FlexFab—she breathes new life into the golden age of Somali “mogadisco.” On stage, her electrifying performances make her a vital voice of East Africa’s new generation.
