Afra Kane
Winner of the Montreux Jazz Talent Awards in 2019, Afra Kane is an Italian pianist, singer-songwriter and producer based in Switzerland. Listening to Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone and Otis Redding from an early age sparked her passion for music. Classically trained as a pianist, she began writing songs at 13, drawing inspiration from classical music, gospel, soul and jazz. In 2020, she took part in the Montreux Jazz Academy alongside Snarky Puppy and John McLaughlin. She subsequently released two albums on Warner Music Germany: Hypersensitive (2022) and Could We Be Whole (2024), and has performed more than 50 concerts across Europe and South America. Afra Kane is currently preparing her next album, Kachifo, bringing together Berlin chamber music, a Swiss contemporary jazz quartet and a gospel choir.
