Mádé Kuti

A multi-instrumentalist and composer, Mádé Kuti carries forward his family’s Afrobeat legacy while forging his own path. The son of Femi Kuti and grandson of the legendary Fela Kuti, he grew up in Lagos, immersed in the rhythm, resistance, and power of the local music scene. He discovered the saxophone at the age of five and soon joined his father’s band, touring the world at a young age. He later studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London—where Fela had also trained—and went on to master six instruments. In 2021, he played every instrument on his debut album For(e)ward, a manifesto denouncing corruption and inequality. This year, Mádé returns with his new album Chapter 1: Where Does Happiness Come From?
