DJ and producer Jeff Mills is a legendary figure in the Detroit techno scene. Nicknamed The Wizard, the founder of Axis Records has always been influenced by science fiction, space exploration, and futuristic aesthetics. Throughout his career, Mills has sought to take techno beyond the DJ set, through visual works, improvised performances, collaborations with orchestras, or reimagined soundtracks for films such as Metropolis and Woman in the Moon. During his last appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Mills presented his electro-jazz improvisation project The Paradox with keyboardist Jean-Phi Dary. This performance was immortalized in the 2022 album Live at Montreux.
