Manou Gallo

Dubbed “The African Queen of Bass” by Bootsy Collins, Manou Gallo dazzles with her impressive slap technique and infectious groove. Equally comfortable in jazz, funk, and Afro-pop, the Ivorian bassist has shared the stage with Wyclef Jean, Marcus Miller, and Manu Dibango. Her career took off in 1997 when she became the bassist for Zap Mama upon arriving in Europe. Since 2003, Gallo has toured with her own band and participated in numerous projects. Her fifth album, Aliso, is a tribute to the African figures who have inspired her, including Fela Kuti.
