At just 23, drummer Roni Kaspi has been making heads turn since her breakthrough in 2020 as a member of double bassist Avishai Cohen’s band. A polyrhythmic whirlwind with a straightforward beat and a stripped-back groove, she made a name for herself on social networks by posting hypnotic solos. Since this year, she has been leading her own project as drummer, singer-songwriter and producer. Somewhere between the traditional and the avant-garde, her musical universe shifts genres between jazz, alt-pop, soul, world music, metal and electro. Her first single “Why Does” reveals an innovative musical vision with an irresistible groove.
