Based in London, Sheila Maurice-Grey, or Ms Maurice, is a trumpet and flugelhorn player who leads a leading band on the South London jazz scene, Kokoroko. She has yet to release a solo album, but has already collaborated with a host of hip-hop and jazz artists including Sampha, Little Simz, Yussef Dayes, Stormzy, Nubya Garcia and Ezra Collective. Sheila is also a visual artist. Her painting plays an important and central role in her forthcoming solo project, in which she seeks to explore her musical voice and provocatively question the hypersexualisation of black women throughout history.
