Jacob Lusk
Audiences at the Montreux Jazz Lab this summer can attest to this: Jacob Lusk’s astonishing voice is one you hear once or twice in a generation. Once the director of a gospel choir and backing vocalist for Diana Ross, Beck and Gladys Knight, the Californian vocalist has found his calling in the Gabriels project. With this trio, Lusk takes us into a time capsule, both steeped in decades of soul music and propelled by a completely new spirit. According to Sir Elton John himself, Gabriels’ debut EP is quite simply “most seminal record I’ve heard in the last 10 years”. The British legend even invited him to play at his historic Glastonbury concert this summer.
