The 3rd edition of the Autumn of Music festival offered artists and music lovers four intense days of sharing, discovery and creativity. The event organised by the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation was more popular than ever, with a record attendance during the weekend jam sessions.
The Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation celebrated its 15th anniversary in the most beautiful way during Autumn of Music. More than fifty musicians, including several long-time friends of the Foundation, were able to meet and exchange privileged moments on stage and backstage. Many of them expressed the unique feeling of belonging to a big family, having experienced together unforgettable encounters and memories, made possible by the Foundation.
SWISS RISING TALENT
NUIT INCOLORE WINS THE PRIZE
The Valais-based artist Nuit Incolore has won the Prix Coup de Coeur donated by Julius Baer, partner of the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation. His audacious mix of rap, French song and melancholic piano seduced the public present in the hall and on social networks. He won the music gear of his choice worth CHF 8,000.
The Swiss Rising Talent programme also showcased the talents of five other exceptional artists: Auk Nova, Nola Kin, Andrina Bollinger, Anatole Muster and Pilar Vega. Each of the young artists left with a recording of their performance, a series of photographs by Anoush Abrar and valuable encounters with other musicians and music professionals.
MONTREUX JAZZ ACADEMY
A FASCINATING CLOSING CONCERT
The seven young musicians of the Montreux Jazz Academy had an intense week, under the guidance of their musical directors and mentors Gilles Peterson, Chelsea Carmichael, Soweto Kinch, Chico Freeman and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. Together, they gave a concert of almost an hour and a half on Saturday night, including two tracks composed during their residency in Montreux. Another great story was the cover of “Pepe’s Samba”, a Chico Freeman track that Gilles Peterson brought back to life during his DJ sets in the London underground of the 1980s.
On the occasion of the International Donation Day, the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation invites you to support its work in supporting young musical talent.
The Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation sincerely thanks all its partners, the public bodies, foundations, corporate institutions and private donors for their generous financial support and their valuable collaboration.
